Family Session | Nielsen Park & Watson's Bay

It was way back in July that we held not one but two family sessions at the beautiful harbourside locations of Neilsen Park and Watson's Bay, specifically chosen for Dan's love of the water and sailing.

Ten-month old twins, Grace & Thomas, were absolute troopers and bravely battled the icy-cold weather before making it pretty clear that the shoot was over!  This was my first time photographing twins and hats off to all you parents of multiples...that is hard work, but oh so rewarding.  Their relationship with each other and with their parents is just beautiful.

My thanks to Elissa, Dan, Grace & Thomas for the opportunity to photograph your lovely family.

Family Session | Nielsen Park

It's hard to believe that winter is upon us.  The cooler temperatures are no excuse to postpone family photo sessions, however, as this selection of my favourites from a shoot last week at Nielsen Park will prove.

Olive is one of my earliest newborn clients and it was just a pleasure to be asked to photograph her and her family as she approaches her first birthday.   Such a great age to photograph little ones, after they can sit and crawl but before they can run away from the camera!

Olive is a natural who loved looking right into the camera, but her parents are self-confessed camera-phobes.  I think these images are a wonderfully genuine example of what can be captured naturally and informally, without pose and which capture the bond of a family.  Often, it is more comfortable and realistic for parents to focus their attention on their children and the images are then more relaxed and natural.

I really love this set and hope you do too.

My thanks to Cait, Al & Olive,

Family Session | Nielsen Park

Pam & John have been coming to Sydney to visit their daughter and her family for seven years now.  Their first visit coincided with my first pregnancy and there are now several children and many wines and fun times under the bridge.

I love sessions with multi-generational families.  There is something so special about the bond between Grandparent and Grandchild.  John is getting to meet his Grandaughter, Lauren, for the first time this trip which makes it all the more special and important to have images to look back upon.

As if you needed more proof that you really can't go wrong with a session at Neilsen Park, here are my favourites from the session.

My thanks to Pam & John, Sarah, Ben, Harry & Lauren xx

Family Session | Nielsen Park

Having family visit Sydney from overseas is often a reason that I hear for clients choosing to book a family photo session.  And so it was for three generations of this family who gathered at the beautiful Nielsen Park last weekend to capture some beautiful memories which will long outlast their three-week visit.

The huge swell was unlike anything that I've seen previously at this sheltered harbourside beach but the Pools were still game to get stuck in and brave the northern end of the beach for some shots before the waves forced us back into the beautiful parklands where we made the most of the shade of the towering fig trees.

At 9 months of age, Toby was a complete natural in front of the camera and thrived on the attention of his family and the camera!  Such a beautiful happy chappy with parents and Grandparents that clearly dote on him.

Thank you to all the Pool family and I wish Sally & Jonathan a safe return trip.
