Cake Smash | Hugo

Having just re-located to Sydney's Northern Beaches, I found myself  in urgent need of a new local cake maker to supply me with some delicious creations for use in my cake smashes which have proven overwhelmingly popular since I introduced them to my session offering six months ago.

Enter Neil Smith of Peekaboo Party Cakes, Seaforth (www.peekaboopartycakes.com).  Neil was intrigued by the cake smash concept and embraced it entirely, indeed so much so that he even booked in his beautiful 17-month-old son, Hugo, for a smash using none other than his fabulous Christmas Cupcake.

As the son of a cake maker I had very high hopes for Hugo's cake smashing skills and I wasn't disappointed!  After a bit of convincing that he was actually allowed to touch this particular cake, Hugo  approached with gusto.   The resulting images are just gorgeous and I think Hugo looks most at home with a wooden spoon and whisk in hand.  I can certainly see him joining Dad in the business before too long.

My thanks to Neil and Kate for allowing me to share these images and for continuing to provide me with such fabulous cakes which I know are appreciated by the bubs and Mums alike!

Cake Smash | Max

Can I just say, I L.O.V.E.D this little guy...

With the most divine curls and huge brown eyes, what's not to love?  He was the perfect cake smasher too which just about made my day.  After Max had had enough of feasting with his fingers, he very happily dived straight back in again with a whisk (which, just quietly, is apparently his favourite toy at home too!).

Max, you are a treasure.  And I know Mum and Dad think so too!

Studio Session | Liam

Liam joined me for his six-month photo session with his little cousin, Felicity.   Born just three weeks apart, they already have a lovely bond and enjoyed a fair amount of wrestling in between shots.

These studio sessions are a short 20-30 minutes each which is quite sufficient to capture a nice range of shots.    Eternally smiley, Liam was a joy to photograph.

Cake Smash | Ava

Happy First Birthday little Ava!

I have loved watching you grow over the past year from a tiny newborn into a cheeky little one-year-old with so much character - make sure you tell Mum & Dad to bring you to visit at the new studio in Freshwater!

Studio Session | Felicity

Meet Felicity - pretty in pink for her 6-month mini photo session.

Perfect styling by Mum, Julia, I absolutely loved Felicity's beautiful outfits, especially that gorgeous tutu!  Such a little princess.

Studio Session | Isabel & Sophia

This week my middle and youngest children very kindly assisted me with photographing some of the new Studio Styling range of props.  Oh so camera shy these two!

Cake Smash | Lauren

First birthdays mark a huge milestone, not only for the child, but also for the parents who have survived one of the most enjoyable but also challenging periods of their lives to date.

A first birthday shoot/cake smash combination is a really lovely way of celebrating and recording this gorgeous age.

Lauren was the perfect model but the only child to date who has preferred eating a mandarin in the bath at the end to eating the cake during the smash!  These images have a special place at the end of Lauren's first year photo book that has been put together for her by Mum, Sarah.

Family Session | Nielsen Park & Watson's Bay

It was way back in July that we held not one but two family sessions at the beautiful harbourside locations of Neilsen Park and Watson's Bay, specifically chosen for Dan's love of the water and sailing.

Ten-month old twins, Grace & Thomas, were absolute troopers and bravely battled the icy-cold weather before making it pretty clear that the shoot was over!  This was my first time photographing twins and hats off to all you parents of multiples...that is hard work, but oh so rewarding.  Their relationship with each other and with their parents is just beautiful.

My thanks to Elissa, Dan, Grace & Thomas for the opportunity to photograph your lovely family.

Baby Session | 8-week-old Georgie

Georgie has been blessed with the most mesmerising blue eyes...and they want to take absolutely everything in!  She was the most alert little thing for our session this week and only after the camera had been put away did she finally succumb to sleep in Mum's arms.

We got some gorgeous wide-awake shots which I know will be shared with all of Georgie's extended family up in QLD.  Here are some of my favourites, I hope you enjoy them.

Thank you Jess and Georgie.  It was my great pleasure to be asked to photograph you.

Studio Session | Ella & Alf

For a quick update of the children's photographs, a 30-minute studio session may be all that you need.

We all recognise that kids grow up so incredibly quickly but it appears particularly rapid to family members who are interstate or overseas who don't have the opportunity to see their Grandchildren, Nephews or Nieces on a daily basis.

Last week I was visited by the eternally energetic Alf and his beautiful big sister, Ella who have family located all over Australia as well as in NZ and the UK.  What a lovely treat for those who don't see them every day to be able to see some recent images of the pair.

At just $99 for a a 30-minute studio session including 5 high-res images, it's a really affordable alternative to those grainy, out-of-focus photos that you've been sending them from your iPhone.

Cake Smash | Barnaby

Wishing Barnaby a very Happy First Birthday!

What a little champion he was for his birthday cake smash - we had air punching, cheering & clapping and also (buoyed up by the sounds of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines") a bit of hands-free cake eating.

Wonderful fun!
